Review: Roar of Magic

Roar of Magic (Shifting Crossroads Book 29)Roar of Magic by Zenina Masters

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The fey are magic and when they mate with shifters, it's electrifying.  Leroc is a fey without a mate for centuries.  When he finds Anessa in a spell-supply shop, he's intrigued.  He's sure she is a shifter yet there is something odd about her he can't figure out.  Anessa insists she just human even if she knows about the supernatural world.  An unwanted orphan, she is well adjusted and likes where she is now.  So when Leroc shakes up her world with news that she isn't expecting, she is happy to have him help her navigate in the new world.

Ms. Masters writes another sweet and loving mating tale with a complicated magical mix.  This variation is a new combination yet still with a similar baseline of an unknown childhood.  Filling in the blanks for Anessa is what makes this story interesting.  One wonders what will happen with the next set of mates pairing off.  At one point, surely Ms. Masters will run out of shifters and fey combinations.  Perhaps the Djinns will finally make an appearance for finding their soul mate in the magical Crossroads.  The usual characters helping the supernatural beings find their "one" make periodic appearances throughout this series.  It helps loosely tie the series together as well as keeping a familiar constant thread.  This paranormal romance is recommended to readers who enjoy a shifter and fey mix.
