Review: The Player

The PlayerThe Player by Keiko Alvarez

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Charge up the vibrators, make sure there are extra batteries, this is going to be a wet ride. Ms. Alvarez takes the reader on another erotic journey which loosely resemble the "Real Housewives" reality TV series. Doug Flynn is a man with simple tastes. He enjoys tennis, golf, poker and women - not necessarily in this order. He is a player known for nailing women on a dare. When his buddy Bill aims him towards Honey and Dominica, Doug is ready to rumble. With little effort on his part, both women are quickly shed of clothing and riding Doug. When the sex is a "tit for tat" exchange, Doug easily slips in a bit of business deals for both him and his buddy.

The erotic scenes in this story are hawt and dirty. It is like Taxi Cab confessions smutty. I love it. I go into these books hoping for hot sex. The common fantasies are nicely reinterpreted and presented in a way that requires a fully charged sex toy. The only thing which is disappointing is being left with more potential sexual shenanigans and then the story ends. What also catches a reader off guard is the twists and the hidden machinations. Since the point of view is all from Doug's perspective, the reader is in the same boat. There are other motives and plays in action which are not readily evident. Appearances can be deceiving and yet all is well at the end. The reveals may be a bit hokey but they are amusing and enjoyable. For those who enjoy being surprised and seduced, this is the book for you.
